Year 2002


Futhark is a Heathen Metal band who started as a project at the end of February 2002 under the name "Stormblast" with the idea of mixing Celtic, Scandinavian mythologies and paganism with Nordic Black Metal creating a different style never done in Colombia, this way the band begins to rehearse and to compose hymns influenced by the tunes of Cruachan, Isengard, Bathory, Manowar, Ragnarok (UK), Dimmu Borgir (For All Tid, Střrmblast), Burzum, Storm and others, the name Stormblast was changed to Futhark, because others bands had that name.

In September 12th of 2002 a 6 tracks reh-demo was recorded in Jimmy Hendrix Sala de Ensayos, songs with very diverse structures, folk rhythms and pagan lyrics. (This Reh-demo is sold-out)

In September 14th of 2002 came the first gig of Futhark, was in Antagon bar in the village of Girardota - Antioquia with the bands Martyr (Death Metal), The Army Pentagram (Black Metal) and Lagash (Black Metal).

In October the band recorded in Nebuloza Producciones the Promo 2002, a Promo CD-R with the first two songs composed, both recordings with the same name "Rebirth of the Pagan Pride".

For the months of October and November were filmed images for the video clips of the 2 songs in the Promo CD in locations of Guarne and Las Palmas, adding images from the recording session in Nebuloza Producciones and Jimmy Hendrix Sala de Ensayos, the songs are:

  • Journey Through a Dark Mist
  • The Rebirth of the Pagan Pride


    • Year 2003


    January: The song "Rebirth of the Pagan Pride" from the promo CD was included in "Anthems of War Compilation" of Sabbath Productions released at the end of February.

    February: The line-up changed, Apeiron left the band by personal reasons.

    March: Loki joins the band as second guitar.

    Wottan enter to play the bass, but later by personal reasons, he left the band and is replaced by Leprechaun.

    June: Black Fairy joins to the line-up to play the keyboards.

    October: New songs are composed and in October 18th the second gig is made in locations of Urbanización La Nubia in Medellín, a gig were the band showed their work, the same that was recorded by the band in Nebuloza Producciones.

  • Black Fairy left the band because a lack of time, interest in Futhark and personal differences with some of the members, so on the new recording Vintertyr recorded the keyboards.
  • Leprechaun left the band by personal reasons, he traveled to USA to live there and same as Black Fairy, because a lack of interest in the band, so the bass guitar was recorded by Álvaro Álvarez, Masacre?s bass player, who is at the same time the sound recording engineer and owner of Nebuloza Producciones.


    • Year 2004


    In the first six months of the year, the band has been quite on stand by, but soon they begin again to rehearse and compose new songs, 2 of them were recorded Live Session including bass player Juan Camilo Barrera (Ex-Eternal) who's on vacations in Colombia for that time, later Sigurd enter the band as official bass player in Futhark, he made his debut in the 3rd gig of Futhark in Valhala bar rock the day November 14th.

    At the end of the year the band was included in the compilation CD-R from Manizales "Pagan Alliance Compendium I" with the song "Journey Through a Dark Mist" taken from the Promo CD.

    Year 2005


    Some band members had changed their name or they had corrected them, the actual line-up is:

  • Sigurd: Bass


    • Actually Futhark is mixing the songs from the forthcoming EP "Řrlög" who's the preceding release to the debut CD "For the Glory of Vinland", meanwhile the mixing is finished, the band placed 2 free download mp3 of the songs "Great Horn of Battle" and "Journey Through a Dark Mist" on Music.Download.com for their promotion.

    In September 3rd 2 new tracks were recorded Live Session at Nebuloza Producciones studios, this songs we'll be part of the new Promo CD edited by Sabbath Productions, the song, "Journey Through a Dark Mist" from the forthcoming EP "Řrlög" was released in a compilation CD-R pressed by Yahuar Mallcu of the city of Bogotá.

    In September 17th the band gave the 4th gig, this time it was something more private, only for a few friends and fans.

    In October other two compilation CD-Rs are prepared with the release of the two songs recorded in September, one for Yahuar Mallcu (Bogotá - Colombia) and other for Letra Oculta Magazine (Cúcuta - Colombia).
